I am planning an upcoming trip to Disney where we will stay at the PO Riverside. I am considering booking a dinner at BOMA in the AKL. How would we get from one resort to the other and how long would it take with the bus transportation?

    Hi, Deann!

I'm so excited for you - Port Orleans-Riverside is one of my favorite resorts! You will love the atmosphere there. It's like being transported back to the Old South with elegant mansion homes along a lovely riverbank. And Boma is a wonderful choice for dinner. You're going to love the amazing buffet with so many exotic and unique flavors!

Unfortunately, the buses do not run direct from resort to resort. To get over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge from your resort, you would need to take a bus to a theme park (Animal Kingdom would be your best choice) and then switch to a bus going to the Lodge. Depending on the time of day and timing of the buses, it could take anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes to travel from resort to resort. If you're on a tight schedule or if you'd simply prefer a shorter travel time, I would recommend taking a taxi in both directions (to and from dinner at Boma). It's easy to pick up a taxi at your resort's entrance. In my opinion, the cost is justified by the convenience. (The cost would be around $20 each way.)

If you have time either before or after dinner, be sure to check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge beyond the doors of Boma. The lobby taken all by itself is simply breathtaking. Don't forget to look up - the ceiling architecture and light fixtures are absolutely stunning. There is also a beautiful sculpture down past the reception desk on the way to the savanna lookout. From the Arusha Rock Overlook viewing location you might spot some of the wild inhabitants of the savanna!

It sounds as if you have a magical vacation in the works!

Enjoy your vacation planning! Please don't hesitate to stop back to visit me with any other questions.
