Hi! Planning an upcoming cruise and wondering if bottled water can be brought onboard on embarkation day. If so, is there a limit as to number of bottles, and do they have to be in carry-on bags only? Thanks!

    Ahoy there, Nancy!

Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question. We are happy to get you in ship shape for your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I’m with you in liking to stay hydrated when setting sail. You will be happy to know that you are permitted to bring unopened bottled water when you board the ship. The water must be packed in your carry-on bags. Each Guest is allowed on carry-on, measuring no larger than 14 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 22 inches in height in order to fit in the security scanning at the port. You are also permitted one personal bag. Keep in mind that you will more than likely need to carry your carry-on around with you after you board until your stateroom is ready.

I recommend that you consider bringing refillable water bottles rather than individual water bottles. There are 24-hour complimentary beverage stations on the ship which offer water and ice, and water bottle refill stations on Deck 4 of each of the ships. I usually stop by a few times a day and fill up my bottle. You could always bring a few water bottles and then refill them once a day. You can also pre-order water and other beverages, which will magically be awaiting you when you arrive at your stateroom.

Nancy, I recommend that you place anything you may need as soon as you board the ship in your carry-on bag since after check-in, your other luggage will not arrive at your stateroom until sometime after you board. I always include the basics like sunscreen and if you would like to take a dip in the pool, toss in your bathing suit, but leave your towels at home since they are provided. Remember to pack any medications, valuables, and your cruise documents and identification in your carry-on.

If you would like some ideas on what to pack for your cruise, check out these handy packing lists available on the Disney Cruise Line website. Depending on your itinerary, you may also want to add some magical extras to your list, so feel free to let us know which cruise you plan to take and we are happy to provide more packing tips!

    Wishing you a magical voyage,
    Shannon
