I am planning a trip to WDW for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend in 2012. We are DVC owners @ the Villas of DAK but would like to stay @ Boardwalk or Beach Club Villas - should we make a 'dummy' rsv @ DAK just in case, since we can already book?

    Hi Kristina,

Welcome Home! I really had a great time at the Epcot International Wine & Dine Festival this year. My husband ran the inaugural half marathon in 2010 which he liked except it was hot that year. This year was better suited for racing.

You would be better off staying at the Beach Club or Boardwalk resorts. You can cheer on the runners during the final meters of the race over by the Yacht & Beach Club and then easily return to your room after the party and race.

I would call Member Services and have them add you to the wait list for either the Beach Club or Boardwalk for your current reservation. Once the seven month booking window opens and a room matches your request, you will automatically receive a new room confirmation at the new resort. You can also call at the seven month mark and ask about availabiity. You do not want to create a false reservation because it does not allow other guests to book and you do not want to have a issue with banking or borrowing points.

I routinely do this so I can book my airfare now and still be guaranteed a room. Only once was my reservation on the wait list not honored.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
    Beth
