We are planning a trip to WDW in September. We have a 9;30 dinner reservation at Hoop De Doo our first night. What is the best way to get to Fort Wilderness from Wilderness Lodge? Is the walking path faster than boat?

    Kim,

We just returned from Disney last week and we stayed in the Wilderness Lodge for part of our trip.  While we were there, we also went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo.  (Great show, by the way - you'll love it!)  Anyway, we'd never walked from there to Ft. Wilderness and so that had been our plan as well.  Unfortunately, we discovered that the walking path between the two is not lighted, and therefore not really suitable for late-night travel.

The boat between the two resort areas takes only about 5 minutes, and they do run frequently.  You could also take a bus to Ft. Wilderness.  This wouldn't be my preference, but it's a useful option in case of inclement weather.

    Have a great vacation!
