We are planning a trip to WDW 8-15 May this year. We are not new to Disney, but usually go in January or February. I am getting conflicting information about the weather and am wondering if we can expect super hot and humid or hot, but not as humid?

    Hiya, Natalie,

I’m so happy to welcome you to planDisney! A springtime visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth is truly one of the most Bibbidi Bobbidi BEAUTIFUL times of the year to go. The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and spring brings a fresh burst of color, energy, and enchantment to every corner of the parks. It just feels bright, happy, and full of life everywhere you turn.

That said, Florida weather can definitely keep you on your toes! I visited Walt Disney World last May, so I can share exactly how I planned and packed. About a week before our arrival, and in the days leading up to the trip, I always check the forecast for the Bay Lake area. Keeping an eye on the predicted weather gives you a much clearer idea of what to expect and helps you pack confidently.

During our May visit, we experienced one very hot day and another day with a brief afternoon rain shower that lasted about an hour. The silver lining? That rain cooled things off beautifully for the rest of the day, making the evening feel much more comfortable.

My biggest packing tip: layers are your best friend. While daytime temperatures are often warm (sometimes quite hot!), evenings can cool down enough that you’ll be glad you tossed a lightweight hoodie or sweater into your park bag. I also recommend packing ponchos or a small umbrella, as those quick Florida showers tend to pop up unexpectedly.

No matter the forecast, one thing is certain: the magic is always in the air, no matter when you choose to visit!

During your visit, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival will be in full bloom, and it really transforms the park! You’ll find stunning character topiaries, vibrant gardens, outdoor kitchens with fresh seasonal bites, and special entertainment sprinkled throughout World Showcase. It’s one of my absolute favorite times to explore EPCOT.

The Disney Parks Blog recently shared details about this year’s festival, and everything announced looks like so much fun. From the food offerings to the exclusive merchandise collections. And speaking of merchandise…I can’t resist! I’m such a big fan of Orange Bird. If there’s Orange Bird apparel, a sipper, or a cute new accessory, it’s probably coming home with me!

Natalie, I hope this helps as you count down to your trip! If any other questions come up while you’re planning, please feel free to pop back over to planDisney…we’re always happy to help!

    Magic Awaits,

    Kami
