Planning our 2nd trip to WDW and was looking to go 1/4-1/11 2014 and realized that marathon wkend would be going on at that time.will it be crowded the days that we will be there?Wanted to go when the crowds were as minimal as possible! Thanks!

    Hi Jessica,

My husband and sister just returned from the 20th Anniversary Marathon Weekend. They completed both the half and full marathons that weekend which is Goofy in my book.

I have been to Walt Disney World for three marathon weekends. I find the crowds are not as crowded as they could be given the all the runners. Many of the runners are local so they run the race and then leave go home. While many runners do travel for the races, they also have to be up at 3:00 am to make the start of the race and they may not enter the parks at all.

Epcot is the most impacted of the parks and that is on marathon Sunday as the racers finish up in Epcot running from World Showcase to the front of the park.

My husband visited Magic Kingdom on Saturday of marathon weekend and he said it was not crowded at all.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
