We are planning a trip to WDW in Dec 20-27,2008 (Yippee). Why is MVMCP only until Dec 19? You would think that it would go a few more days since the next week is Christmas. I love reading your panel. Thanks for your help.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is an event that is designed to attract guests and Florida locals to WDW during the historically very slow period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Once schools start letting out for Christmas break (this year the magic day is December 19), Disney does not need to do anything to attract guests; they will automatically descend upon WDW en masse.

Also, the hours for the Magic Kingdom are quite short during times of MVMCP (the park closes at 7:00 p.m. to guests without party tickets), but the hours are much longer during Christmas week. On most days in late December, the Magic Kingdom is open until 11:00 p.m. and then on some days there are also additional evening Extra Magic Hours, effectively making the park open until 2:00 a.m. for Disney resort guests.
