Hello! We are planning our trip to WDW in August. I am hoping to book the dates (this week) of August 18-26. I was wondering what to expect regarding weather and crowds. Any tips on things to bring to help keep cool? Thanks! So excited!!!! :)

    Hi Janine!

August is a good time of year to visit Walt Disney World because many families are heading back to school in the late August timeframe, so the crowds may be a little lighter. You can subscribe to a service, tourinplans dot com, which will provide you with the exact crowd levels on a scale of 1-10 for the days you plan to visit. It is well worth the small fee!

During your visit, you can expect mid-range crowds, which is excellent!

The weather will still be hot, the average high is 92, average low is 73. The humidity will be high, so you can expect showers in the afternoon most days, but don't worry, they are short.

I suggest you bring small ponchos for each member of your family, which you can buy at a sporting goods store, and keep them stashed in your bag. I also suggest bringing a backpack, filled with the following items to help you keep cool:

    • Baseball cap or wide brimmed hat to keep the sun off your head
    • Sunglasses
    • Water fan (fill a small fan with water and you can spray your face)
    • Frozen bottle of water
    • Towel
Just make sure to dress comfortably and wear light colors. Loose layers work best in the heat.

I hope you have a magical vacation!

    Magically,
    Stacy
