Howdy, Jordan!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. You won't have to worry about removing your hats or glasses here. Our panel may not be the wildest ride in the wilderness, but it is one of the most magical spots on the internet. Let's discuss!
I'm visiting right around the same time as your upcoming trip, but your mention of a potential
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad refurbishment is the first I've heard of it. This is one of my family's favorite attractions, so we would also be disappointed to miss zipping around on a speeding mine train during our visit. I checked through all my official channels for any news of this maintenance closure but unfortunately, I wasn't able to dig up any golden intel. The attraction's availability calendar only displays through July and Cast Members didn't have a schedule to review for any attractions beyond August 7, 2024.
While it's certainly possible this attraction might be closed for refurbishment there is no official news to share just yet. I also came across a few rumors from other websites matching the information you heard, but until Walt Disney World Resort or
Disney Parks Blog confirms the details, I can't say they are anything more than rumors.
I've been lucky to visit Disney Parks many times over the past decade and I don't think there has been a single trip where every single attraction or experience has been available. We visited Disneyland Resort while Sleeping Beauty Castle was tarped for renovations, spent plenty of time in Tomorrowland amidst
TRON Lightcycle / Run construction, and experienced construction walls blocking our way around
EPCOT on many visits, but none of that made our trips any less magical. We always found more than enough entertainment and excitement to keep us mesmerized even if a "must-do" experience wasn't available as we hoped.
Hopefully, you'll be able to enjoy all of Frontierland as planned this September. You should also have the added enjoyment of
Tiana's Bayou Adventure which is set to debut on June 28, 2024. I'm really excited to experience this attraction for myself this fall.
Jordan, I'm sorry I don't have a more firm answer for you today. Keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog and the official social media channels for updates as they become available. In the meantime, please come back and see us again with additional questions.
Magic and memories,
Amy
