We are planning A TRIP IN October and need to go from Orlando international airport to Disneyworld then to Port Canaveral for a Disney cruise then back to Orlando airport. what would be the best way to do this for 7 people inexpensively?

Welcome to planDisney, Chuck! It sounds like you have a Halloween on the High Seas cruise coming up...that’s sure to be a spooktacular vacation full of Disney magic!

When it comes to transportation for a group of seven, especially with luggage, finding the most budget-friendly and practical option can be a bit of a puzzle, but I’ve done this myself recently, so I’m happy to share what worked for us.

For getting from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World, the most affordable option is usually a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. While UberXL is designed for up to six passengers, with seven people and luggage, you’ll likely need to request two vehicles. Even with that, it often ends up being slightly more economical than a private car service or even Mears Connect, depending on pricing at the time. Mears does offer a flat rate and is a reliable option, but it typically includes stops at other resorts, which can take a bit longer. You can book directly on their website if you’d like to compare options.

When it’s time to head to Port Canaveral for your Disney cruise, I’d recommend using a rideshare service again. We did this just last month with six people and were able to use one UberXL from our Disney Resort to the port, and while there are lots of variable at play that affect pricing, it cost just over $100 plus tip. You’d still need to take two vehicles for that leg of the trip, but even then, you may still come out ahead compared to Disney Cruise Line transfers, which are currently $45 each way or $90 round trip per person for guests ages three and up (again, prices are subject to change). If the convenience and comfort of Disney transportation appeals to you (and it definitely has its magical touches), you can always call and speak with a Disney Cruise Line agent directly to book those transfers or ask questions.

After your cruise, rideshare is also a solid option for returning to the airport, although this leg is a little longer so expect the prices to be slightly higher. I’d recommend scheduling your ride in advance if you can, especially if you have an early flight, just to take one thing off your plate that morning.

Hope this helps as you piece together the final details of your land-and-sea adventure! You’re in for such a memorable trip, Chuck!

    Warmly,
    Eean
