We are planning a trip in October with our kids, ages 2 and 3. My parents are also coming with us. We plan to stay in a two bedroom villa and are having trouble deciding between the contemporary bay lake villa and animal kingdom kidani villa. Any advice?

Hi, Danielle!  My family belongs to the Disney Vacation Club, and we have stayed at both of these resorts.  I will tell you that they are pretty much exact opposites of each other, so it may be simply a matter of personal preference when it comes to choosing which one works best for your family.

A big plus for me at Bay Lake Tower, especially with young children, is the easy access to the Magic Kingdom and the convenient location of the monorail.  You can literally walk to the Magic Kingdom from Bay Lake Tower in about ten minutes, or you can hop onto the monorail inside the Contemporary.  I love that the monorail provides quick transportation to the Polynesian Resort and the Grand Floridian Resort, as we often make dining reservations for the restaurants at those two hotels.

The monorail also allows you to get back from EPCOT quickly.  It's nice to have the access to a quick trip back to the hotel in case you need an unexpected change of clothes or want to get the kids back for a nap.

I can't imagine a resort anything like Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Kidani Village.  The Savannah view rooms afford you the opportunity to see animals right outside your window - something that I absolutely love.  We make it a point to have an early breakfast or dessert treat for the kids so they can sit on the balcony and watch the animals when we are there.

The decor at Bay Lake Towers is sleek and Contemporary.  Kidani Village has a more rustic, darker tone.  I prefer the restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge to the ones at the Contemporary, in case that is a concern.

Whichever you choose, I hope you have a wonderful vacation with your family!
