Hi Deb,
October is a great month to visit. The weather is often warm but has lost a good deal of the summer humidity and the crowds are often smaller in October than the summer. You will also be able to enjoy the very popular
Epcot Food and Wine Festival or have the opportunity to attend
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. This special ticket event available on select evenings at Magic Kingdom is a great chance to enjoy your favorite attractions, meet your Disney pals and do some trick or treating.
Unfortunately, Toontown is slowly closing as part of Fantasyland expansion plans. While the refurbishment is in the beginning stages, eventually the Judges Tent and Mickey and Minnie's homes will be closing and removed. There is no exact time schedule given for these closures and changes but I would not include it as part of my October planning. No worries though, even if the Judges Tent is gone, I can promise you there are other opportunities to meet Mickey and his pals throughout Disney World. You may want to consider making a reservation at Chef Mickey's to dine with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. Reservations can be made 180 days in advance by calling 407-939-3463.
The characters can be found throughout the parks, just be sure to check the park schedule or the tip board for appearance information.
Happy planning!
