We are planning our trip for next year -2009. Looking at early-mid Dec. I know the holidays are a busy time. When do the crowds pick up? Was considering the 18th-23rd.

I'm sorry to tell you that I would not expect the dates you suggest to be a low-crowd time at Disney World. Historically, the crowds pick up when schools let out. Each year this depends on when during the week Christmas falls. I just looked at the calendar for December 2009 -- Christmas day falls on a Friday. That means that many school districts will give their students that entire week off. You can expect that the WDW parks will start filling up on the 18th and 19th.

There are many wonderful things to do at WDW during the holidays. You'll just be doing them with lots of other people.
