Becky,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
That is a tough one, but the good news is that you will love whichever you choose. Between Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, it is a battle of great options! Let me go through a few of the reasons to select one or the other, and then you will be armed with more information to make your decision.
Disney's Beach Club Resort
- You can walk into EPCOT
- You can use the Disney Skyliner to jet off to Disney's Hollywood Studios
- It has the largest and most featured resort pool in all of Walt Disney World
- You can walk over to Disney's BoardWalk for a quieter evening of entertainment
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
- You can monorail to the Magic Kingdom Park
- The island theme might be the best at transporting you to another world
- Views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from your beach are iconic and convenient
- You have access to so many resort-based dining choices
BOTTOM LINEMy 16-year-old daughter would tell you to pick the Polynesian, because she is all about resort exploration, and being on the monorail. If you are on your first trip to Walt Disney World, it also is far more iconic to be right there next to the Magic Kingdom. However, if you and your daughter are into dining experiences and a lot of park time, the Beach Club is a great destination because of the quick access to 2 theme parks. It is also a better choice if pool time is a priority. My choice with either of my teen girls would be the Polynesian, but my guess is that the Beach Club will give you more to do and explore with a teenager.
If you
write me back directly with more about your shared interests, I would be glad to refine the advice given here, and even provide some dining recommendations. Half the fun of Disney are the dining experiences!
Have a Magical Vacation!
