Planning a trip in late Aug 2012 and hoping WDW will offer free dining again at that time. If this happens and we arrive 1 day before free dining starts, can we pay for the dining plan for one night only or decline the dining plan for that first night?

    Hi Natalie!

Typically, when this type of situation happens to us - where we just barely arrive to early to take advantage of a great deal, I will split our vacation into 2 separate reservations.

First, for the arrival day and night, I will book a "room only" reservation that includes just a hotel room. We'll spend this first day visiting the pool or Downtown Disney. For the second part of the vacation I will book a vacation package with free dining or a resort discount. We'll simply head over to the new resort, or down to the front desk, to check in for this package the next morning.

Hope this idea helps you in your planning!
