Hello Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney!
Let me begin by saying you really cannot go wrong with either resort. Both are beautiful, and both have a wonderful array of
dining options. My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Gran Destino Tower at
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort earlier this year.
We both agreed that Gran Destino Tower definitely had more of a sophisticated, "adult" atmosphere -- which was exactly what we were looking for. Had we been traveling with our whole family, we may have selected different accommodations. One thing to note is that rooms at Gran Destino Tower do not have balconies, so consider whether that feature is important to you.
At this time,
club-level service (including The Chronos Club in Gran Destino Tower) at Disney Resort Hotels is temporarily unavailable, so keep that in mind when making your decision. A date has not been announced for when this service is anticipated to return.
Disney's Riviera Resort is currently open; Disney's Coronado Springs Resort plans to reopen Oct 14, 2020.
One factor that would strongly influence my decision when selecting a Disney Resort Hotel is access to the
Disney Skyliner transportation system. The Disney Skyliner makes it so quick and easy to travel to
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
EPCOT and provides wonderful views of Walt Disney World Resort. There is a Skyliner station conveniently located at Disney's Riviera Resort. I also highly recommend Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends at
Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. I am not exaggerating when I say that I think this dining location has THE best breakfast food at Walt Disney World Resort. The Quiche Gruyère and Sour Cream Waffle are my favorite dishes.
Jennifer, if you have additional questions or would like more information to help you with your decision, feel free to visit planDisney again anytime. We are always happy to help.
