We are planning a trip for January 2023. There are two parties involved...1st my husband and myself, 2nd my son, his wife, and our grand-mouseketeer. When making online reservations, how do we request connecting rooms in our hotel? Thank you very much!

    Hi there, Joseph.

Welcome to planDisney! Boy oh boy, it makes my heart happy to hear that you'll be vacationing with your whole family of Mouseketeers! My favorite trips to Walt Disney World Resort have been with my large, multigenerational family. There's nothing quite as special as experiencing the magic through my nieces' eyes, and I imagine watching your grandchild have the time of their life will be a highlight of yours.

My family also likes to request connecting rooms at our Disney Resorts Collection hotel. On our November 2021 trip, we had four separate rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort and requested they be connected and near each other. Thankfully, the wonderful Cast Members at our Resort were able to accommodate our request. Being next door to my sister and two doors down from my nieces meant we had even more opportunities to spend time together as a family. We loved it! Now, let's see if I can help you put in your own room request.

When booking your own Disney Resorts Collection hotel online, you will need to make a separate reservation for each room you are booking. Be sure not to duplicate any of the party members' names across these two reservations. At checkout, beneath the list of Guests, you should see a section that says "Room and Amenity Requests." When you click that link, you should be able to select from three options, so make sure you choose the option about connecting doors. It's that simple!

When I spoke with Guest Services, they explained that connecting rooms are only guaranteed for parties with one or two adults in the same household who are traveling with any number of children, ages 17 and under. In all other cases, your Resort hotel will do its best to accommodate, but it would be treated as a request only. In your case, it sounds like it will be treated as a request. Either way, you will want to call Guest Services at 407-560-2428 at least two weeks in advance of your arrival to have them notate who you will be traveling with and make sure your room request has been notated correctly.

Have you considered booking your reservation at Disney's Art of Animation Resort? Their Family Suites sleep up to six, have two bathrooms and even a kitchenette. There are three intricately themed Family Suites to choose from - Finding Nemo, The Lion King and Cars. This option would guarantee that you would all be together while simultaneously immersing you in the storytelling Disney is known for. Plus, Disney's Art of Animation Resort has the largest Resort pool in Walt Disney World Resort and the convenience of quick access to the Disney Skyliner.

I'm crossing my fingers that everything works out for your family to have connecting rooms on your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort adventure, Joseph. No matter what, I just know you will make magical memories together that will last a lifetime!

May all your dreams come true,
    Alyssa
