Hi! Planning a trip in Jan. 2014 to Western Caribbean, and I have heard that January is cheaper because the waters are more choppy. Have concerns about members of party that are motion sensitive and get sick easily. Is this true? Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Shantel! I just disembarked the Disney Magic yesterday after our 6-night Western Caribbean cruise, and I can tell you that January is a great time to sail! I don't think the price in January has anything to do with choppier waters, but more likely that the ships don't fill up as much because kids are in school.

We also sailed last year in February, and have sailed in summer months as well. I haven't noticed a difference in times of year with choppiness of the waters. It's all really luck. Last week we had very smooth sailing until our last at sea day and night. The ship was noticeably rocky that one day, and some very sensitive people were taking some extra rest time in their rooms or donning the motion-sickness patches. Many of the guests I spoke with about this said that the patches worked very well for them, but they took them off when the seas were calm because the patch made them a bit dizzy. When they needed the patch though, it was worth the side effects so that they could more easily ignore the rocking of the waves and enjoy their vacation.

I hope this information helps, Shantel. I wish I could guarantee the best times to sail with the smoothest waters, but it's out of our hands, I'm afraid! Good luck planning, and I hope you are able to enjoy a wonderful Disney Cruise next winter!
