I am planning on trip Jan 2-Jan 9th. I have been reading that weather is normally in the mid 60's - 70's. Do I need to think about my children wearing caparis and tshirts, with a light jacket at night or shorts and shirts? Thanks

    Hi Melissa,
Thanks for submitting your question and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If there's one thing I've learned about living in Central Florida for 32 years, it's that there's no such thing as typical weather! While January is generally milder than our blazing hot summers, there are years where it's quite chilly and others where it's hot-you really never know what you're going to get.

I would suggest bringing clothing that is versatile and definitely bringing a jacket or a sweatshirt for each person in your family. I think your baseline idea of capris and t-shirts with a jacket for the evening hours is a great one. Naturally, keep an eye on the weather forecast before you arrive and maybe bring a long-sleeved shirt or two and a pair of jeans if it looks like it will cool down just in case. I always manage to bring a couple of extra outfits just in case the weather gets crazy. We had a twenty degree drop in outdoor temperature after a bad rainstorm in June and my kids (all Florida babies) were chilly; you really never know what you're going to get.

If you end up forgetting a jacket (as I have done more than once or simply just misjudged the weather), there are always fantastic souvenir jackets, sweatshirts and pants to be purchased all over the parks and in Downtown Disney.

Please come back and see us if you have any additional questions.

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.
