Planning a trip for Jan. 2015. Are there any events happening this month?

    Hey April!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Mom Panel! Thank you for bringing us your question! I am so glad to see we have been able to help you in the past.

Historically, after the first week of January Walt Disney World has low crowds as the holiday vacationers have gone home and the spring breakers are still a bit away. However, there is still one major event which takes place during the month of January.

The Walt Disney World Marathon weekend takes place around the second full weekend. This incredible event includes a Family 5K on Thursday, 10K on Friday, Half Marathon on Saturday and Full Marathon on Sunday. For those adventurous enough to dare, there is even the Dopey Challenge for those individuals who want to run all four races for a total of 48.6 miles in four days. Race weekends are also the only time you can buy the exclusive RunDisney New Balance character-inspired sneakers.

As January gets closer and park hours are posted other event could be announced. If you have any other questions please come back and see me.

Wishing you magical planning and a pixie-dusted day!
