I am planning a trip to Disney this year and I am taking my 5 year old daughter. Any tips on which parks to visit on our 5 day stay and which shows/parades a 5 year old girl will enjoy the most?

    Raddanz,

You are going to find there is a LOT do to at Walt Disney World with a 5-year old!

First, parks. There is something for a 5-year old in each park. With 5 days, I would recommend you spend 2 days (first and last) at the Magic Kingdom, and 1 day each at the other 3 parks. After your first day you may decide that you even will need a 3rd day in the Magic Kingdom, and if so you could probably save Epcot for a future trip, so keep that day's schedule kind of open.

As for parades, I think that the afternoon and evening parades in the Magic Kingdom are both worth planning on attending. I would pass on the Animal Kingdom parade, and there is no Epcot parade. As for the Hollywood Studios parade, I can take it or leave it. See how much she likes parades on that first day, and if she seems to really like them, then definitely add that one to your list as well.

Now, on to shows. In Hollywood Studios you really want to catch the Beauty and the Beast, Disney Junior, Muppets, and Little Mermaid themed shows. In the Animal Kingdom I really love the Nemo and Lion King themed shows, as well as the Flights of Wonder show. In Epcot you really don't see a lot of shows, per se, though Turtle Talk with Crush is a must do attraction/show. Similarly, you may like some of the live entrainment in the different national pavilions. Finally, in the Magic Kingdom there are fewer shows, but I love the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, and she may like the afternoon shows that are in front of Cinderella Castle.

OK, write me back with more questions and we can plan further! As the Dad to 5 and 7 year old girls, I am right there with you!

    Have a magical vacation!
