We are planning our trip to Disney world in early April (peak season). We are staggered by the dining plan prices for 5 adults 1 child (5yrs). Would the plan save us money, is there any hope it will be offered free?

Hi, Lauren!  Historically, the dining plan has not been offered during peak seasons, so it will probably not be available during your upcoming April vacation.  If your dates are at all flexible, a free dining offer has just come out for select dates this fall.

The dining plan CAN save you money, if you make it a point to order higher priced menu items.  For most families, it's just a way to budget for meals, allowing them to dine at restaurants they may not have an opportunity to go to if they didn't use the dining plan.

You get a lot of food on the dining plan, and for some families, it ends up costing more than they might normally pay for meals.  My family, for example, doesn't typically order dessert, and my husband and I often share meals, so the plan is way more than we would ever need.

Check out some of the menus and prices at allears.net.  You might be able to get a better feel for how much your typical meal might cost, and then you can determine if the plan is right for you.

    I hope this helps!
