We are planning a trip to Disney over the Nee Years holiday. I’ve seen posts about New Years Eve desert parties at Magic Kingdom and was wondering if that was going to be an option for this year. I’m still a few days away from my 60 day window. Thanks

Welcome to planDisney, Dawn! Thanks for reaching out to us.

While we will not know officially until it's listed on the Walt Disney World Resort website or announced through the Disney Parks Blog, a dessert party is typically offered for the nighttime spectacular at Magic Kingdom Park on December 31st. Just note that there are usually three different parties on most days of operation: the Pre-Party, the Post-Party, and Seats & Sweets. Not all might be offered on December 31st, and since there are typically two fireworks shows on New Year's Eve, all offerings may not be available for both showings. So, you'll want to get on the website 60 days before your arrival date if you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel (or 60 days before the date you'd like to experience it if you're not) at 6 a.m. EST to see what's being offered and if you can snag a spot.

Now, just a few tips for New Year's Eve at the Most Magical Place on Earth:

    • Because the parks can close due to capacity, especially Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT, you'll want to get to the park early and only leave when you're done and okay with the possibility of not being able to come back.
    •  Consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, or a combination of both. This way, you can lock in some attractions ahead of time, and anything else you do is just icing on the cake!
    •  Keep an eye out for specialty treats to enjoy while you make your way around the parks.
    •  If you're going to partake in a quick-service meal or snack around the parks like I do, try to dine at off-hours. Maybe an earlier or later lunch or dinner.
    •  Slow down and take it all in. Sometimes, we get so excited and want to accomplish everything that we forget that this is a vacation. Relax. Take in the beautiful decor. Stop for the Disney PhotoPass picture. Look at the incredible details all around you. Laugh with your family. It doesn't get more magical than that!
Dawn, enjoy your New Year's Eve visit. It won't be long now! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,
    Matt
