We are planning a trip to Aulani over Thanksgiving. Hawaii is unchartered territory for me as we have been to Disney World many times. I was wondering if it gets busy at Aulani over Thanksgiving? Also are the waves rough in the winter months?

    Aloha Shannon!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa is on my “Must Do Disney” list, but I have yet to stay there. I was able to take a tour just before it opened and all I can say is “WOW!”. We were so impressed with everything the resort has to offer, and when combined with the magic of Disney Imagineering it is incredible! I can’t wait to check a stay there off my list.

While I haven’t experienced the resort myself, my fabulous sister-in-law lives on Oahu, so I asked her what she thought of your questions. She felt that that anytime is a popular time to visit Hawaii, and so it is busy pretty much year round. Thanksgiving might definitely be a more popular time at Aulani, as not only will Guests like us from the mainland be visiting, but it is also a good time for a quick getaway for locals. Don’t worry about it too much, Shannon. I’m sure that even when the resort is full, Disney’s legendary service will make you feel like you are the most important Guest there. If you will be wanting to book any dining or excursions however, I would do that as soon as you are able for the best availability.

I also asked my sister-in-law about the waves. She is a very active mom, and takes my nephews and niece to the beach regularly. You’ll be happy to know that she thought that the rough waves don’t really set in on that side of the island until mid-December, and that you should have pleasant conditions. I hope that helps with your planning, Shannon! I’m so glad you stopped by with your question.

    Mahalo!
