I am planning a trip in Aug 2011 with my 7 year old son, which value resort do you recommend?

Hi, Barbara!  You'll find similarities among all of the Value resorts, but I think you want to take your son's personality into consideration when you book.  Is he a sports fan?  You might want to check out the All Star Sports resort.  With the larger than life sports icons, he might find himself in sports fan heaven!  My girls are big fans of the movies, so they love the All Star Movies resort.  My middle daughter - who is now nine - had to be pried away from "Andy's Room" in the Toy Story section of the resort.  She loved the giant Toy Story favorites.

Pop Century is another option to consider.  I prefer Pop Century because I think the buses are a bit less crowded, and you still get the giant icons throughout the resort.  The biggest complaint my kids had there was that their mother wouldn't let them have tie dyed cheesecake for breakfast.  What kind of mom does that?  On vacation??

You'll find similar amenities at all of them, and a great food court, with quite a few great meal options for a quick bite.

Have a great Walt Disney World vacation!
