Planning a trip with 2 adults and 7 kids (7,8,12 & 13). Is the murphy bed and/or sofa bed big enough to sleep 2 larger kids or tweens? Or should I look at getting 2 rooms? With 2 rooms what are the chances of getting adjoining/connecting rooms?

    Hello, Katrina!

I think you are talking about booking a Family Suite for your party of 6 (2 adults and 4 tweens) at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Katrina, the awesome thing about the Family Suites is that they include three separate sleeping spaces, so there will be plenty of room for your family to spread out and explore the "big blue world."

When you first walk into the suite, you will find a pull-down murphy bed. As long as your tweens can fit comfortably in a full-sized bed, I think that they would be fine in this bed. In fact, the mattress on the murphy bed is a standard full-sized mattress. Additionally, the sleeping area in the living room has a couch that converts to a full-sized bed, as well.

These two sleeping spaces also share a full bathroom.

The master bedroom has the biggest bed, with a queen-sized mattress. It also has an ensuite bathroom and a door that completely closes off the space, giving everyone a little extra privacy.

Katrina, you may actually have a bit more room by booking two standard hotel rooms, but I think that your family will be happier in the Family Suites. While Cast Members do everything they can to give you adjoining or connecting rooms, these requests can not be guaranteed. If it were my family, I would not want to risk having to split up.

I hope that this gave you a bit of insight, Katrina!

    Just keep swimming!
