    I am planning on traveling to Disney at the end of Dec with my 3 y/o daughter and 1 1/2 y/o son for the first time. I wanted to schedule a character breakfast and dinner. Maybe take them to see some shows. Should I do dining? Any suggestions?

    Patricia,

    I think that even for youngsters like your son a character meal can be a fun event. Your daughter is likely to be in heaven! A few suggestions;

    • Consider character meals where the characters have plain faces like us. Princesses for example, as opposed to Winnie the Pooh. That might be less intimidating to the children.
    • Think Princesses for your daughter, and don't worry about your son. At his age I am sure it is just about the activity, not the actual personalities. I would go to Restaurant Akershus for lower cost and plenty of princesses.
    • Don't plan too many meals. One character meal during your visit, maybe two, should be enough.
    • Select a meal at a time that works for your kids. If they are bigger breakfast eaters, then choose that. If they eat more at dinner, then that is your best choice.
    • If you do breakfast, schedule for later in the morning. Kids get tired at Walt Disney World and often need to sleep in later than they would at home. You don't want to be waking them up just to get them to a reservation.
    • Dining plans may not be your best bet. At their age they don't eat much, and your son won't even be on a plan anyway. So I would skip the plans for now.
    As for shows, definitely do that. There are so many good ones to watch. A few personal favorites include the Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo - The Musical, Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage, and Disney Junior - Live on Stage.

    Write me back if I can help with any other questions!

    Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
