We are planning on taking our 6 year old Granddaughter on a surprise trip December 14 through 19th 2016. What is the best resort for this age child that would have a king bed for us? Also will those dates allow us to attend the Very Merry Christmas Party?

    Hello Grandma Laura,

You're going to have the best time planning your Grand Adventure and making memories to last a lifetime with your granddaughter.  I love our trips to the Walt Disney Resort with our grandson because there's nothing like seeing the magic again through their eyes.

Most of the resorts have two double, or two queens beds, but King beds are available in the following resorts and room categories that will accommodate more than two adults:

    Disney's Grand Floridian-Deluxe King Room
Disney's Beach Club-1 Bedroom Suite, Club Level
Disney's Contemporary Resort-Garden Wing Deluxe Room
Disney's Yacht Club Resort-Garden, Lagoon or Pool View, Club Level

My choice for a six year old kid approved hotel would be Disney's Contemporary Resort. You'll be spending a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom and this resort is only a monorail ride or short walk away.  With Chef Mickey's on the premises and some awesome pools, you'll be sure to collect lots of happy hugs and kisses from your granddaughter.

Your trip coincides with the last week of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.  The celebration will be held on December 15, 17 and 18.

Don't forget to capture the surprise trip on your phone or video camera!  I know her reaction will be priceless.

    Have a magical vacation!

Walt Disney captured my heart as a little girl and has not let go since. As a parent and grandparent, I have been to the Walt Disney World Resort with children of all ages, and also as empty nesters. I would like to share my years of experience so that you are able to start your own tradition of Walt Disney World memories, just as I have. Learn More About Leanne
