We're planning a surprise vacation for our kids, 7 & 9, June 9-14. I've heard that we can get the "1st Visit" buttons, but how can our kids help Mickey and Gang open Magic Kingdom? We've been researching this, and can't find anything!

    Hi Mallory,

Hooray for your first visit!!! I hope you and your family have a magical time!

You can absolutely grab a My First Visit button at your Walt Disney World Resort upon check in or at any of the parks. In Magic Kingdom, Town Hall is the best spot to grab one or two.

As for opening Magic Kingdom and being chosen to help, it is random luck. You can increase your luck by being to the front of the park prior to opening. Then you need to wish on a star! Just like being the Grand Marshall family in a parade or running the flag up at Wilderness Lodge, there really is no science.

One tip for enjoying this first trip-do not do everything. Slow down and let the magic unfold. Your children will remember these small moments.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
