Planning a surprise trip in dec 2010. daughter is type 1 diabetic (she must take insulin daily). Would be helpful to have a carbohydrate list of foods available at RIverside hotel and parks.

Hi Andrea! I can't think of a better surprise than a trip to Disney World!

I recommend that you contact Disney's Special Diets department about your daughter's dietary needs. You can reach them by telephone at  407-824-5967 or by email at SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com. This department is dedicated to assisting guests with special dietary requirements and can help you get the information you need. Many restaurants at Disney provide sugar-free items -- the Special Diets department can provide you with a list of such items and the restaurants where you'll find them.  They can also assist you with notifying the table-service restaurants of your daughter's dietary requirements so that the chefs can prepare meals to accommodate her.

You might also want to check out the unofficial website www.allears.net, which has a page with lots of information on visiting Disney with diabetes.

Hope this helps! Feel free to visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions!
