Am planning a surprise April trip for my family (girls 7 & turning 5 on trip). Thought of AK Lodge, but wondering if that's a good idea with construction. What do you recommend? Have stayed at Coronado Springs & liked it- want to try Summit.

    Debra,

The construction at the Animal Kingdom Lodge may go completely unnoticed.  The work in the main building will be done, and the work on Kidani Village is not all that close to the rest of the lodge.  Special consideration has been put into this project so that the guests at the lodge will not be disturbed, and I know a few people who have never even seen or heard any of the construction while visiting.  Most have reported that they could see it if they looked for it, but that's it.  Bear in mind also that this work will be going on during the day, at times when you will most likely be in the parks anyway.

I personally would still go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  It's one of our favorite resorts on Disney property, and I like it far better than Coronado Springs (where I've also stayed twice).

    Happy Birthday to your daughter!
