    I am planning on staying in the fw cabins this July. (kids 12,14,16) Was unaware of all sports family suites. I read good things about both. I realize the all sports is a better value, but $ aside, if choosing between the two, which would you suggest?

    Just to clarify, I believe you mean the All-Star Music Family Suites (these are the only suites in the "Value" resorts).

    If I ignore the costs, I would choose the Fort Wilderness cabins without hesitation.  Fort Wilderness Cabins have the highest repeat visitor rates of any of the accommodations at WDW, which I believe says a lot about how much people enjoy the experience there.  The cabins certainly aren't for everyone, but to me it seems like a choice between a somewhat sterile motel-like experience at the All-Stars vs. an opportunity to enjoy your own rustic cabin in the woods.  To me the cabin is a much more interesting and appealing option. 

    To help you decide for yourself, I'll try to highlight a few key differences/benefits of each options...

    All Star Music Suites: More Disney theming throughout the resort, themed pools, slightly more space in the room (520 vs 504square feet), easier transportation to most places (except the Magic Kingdom area, which has easy access by boat and bus from Fort Wilderness), easier access to the pools (walk vs. take a Fort Wilderness bus or use a golf cart), and more interaction with other guests.

    Fort Wilderness cabins: Quieter on average, beautiful (woods) surroundings, a much more complete kitchen, more privacy (more space between each cabin), more convenient parking (a space at each cabin), and you also have your own deck area with a picnic table and charcoal grill.  In general we have found it to be a nice place to "come home to" and take a break from the activity at the parks.
