We are planning to be staying at the Contemporary Resort on New Year's Eve and spending the day at Magic Kingdom. Is it a zoo to leave Magic Kingdom after midnight fireworks? Where else may be a good spot to see some New Year's fireworks?Dinner that nite?

    Hi Jill,

I have been at the Walt Disney World Resorts for New Year's Eve and I spent it in Magic Kingdom with my family. The park was at capacity earlier in the evening and we watched the fireworks from Frontierland as it was quiet and less crowded. Leaving the parks after the fireworks was very busy. However, you can take your time leaving. Since you are at the Contemporary, you can walk home in about 10 minutes from the park exit.

My favorite place to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks is on the beach of the Polynesian Resort. You will hear the music but also have the best view. Because you are not in the park, the view from the distance is breathtaking.

As for dinner, the Magic Kingdom does not have many restaurants that I like and I usually dine in a resort nearby. Because of the potential to have the park filled to capacity, I might try Be Our Guest, Crystal Palace or Tortuga Tavern for dinner. Columbia House is another choice.

If you do decide to watch from the beach the Polynesian, then there are great choices in the resorts nearby such as 1900 Park Fare, the Wave, California Grill, 'Ohana or Citricos.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
