We were planning on staying at Caribbean Beach but are now considering AKL. If staying at AKL, we will be staying in a standard room. Do you think it is worth the difference since we will not have a savannah view?

    Kelli,

I adore the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  In fact, it's one of our favorite resorts on Disney property.  However, a savannah view room is a huge part of that.  Without the view, well...

How much if a strain would it put on your budget to stay there?  If a standard room is something you can afford comfortably then I'd go for it.  We do prefer the deluxe resorts as they have such fabulous and extensive themeing, and some really great amenities that the moderates do not offer.

However, if staying there would be a stretch for you, I'd say forgo it.  You will have a great vacation no matter where you lay down at night, and it will be much more enjoyable to not have visions of credit card bills dancing in your head.  If you're going to splurge, I'd splurge on a savannah view.  If that's not possible, then I'd save some money and stick with the moderate.  You can always visit the AKL and enjoy the beautiful views.  They have great lookout areas and large balconies with oversized rocking chairs, perfect for a relaxing evening.

And for what it's worth, Caribbean Beach is our favorite moderate resort.  And it's being completely refurbished right now too, so it will be almost brand-new when you visit!
