We are planning a stay at Port Orleans French Quarter for January 2024. Because the Doubloon Lagoon pool is closed, does that mean the aquatic play area/splash pad is closed? How about Mardi Grogs pool bar? Thank you!

Welcome to planDisney Stephanie. You are starting the new year right with a visit in the first month of the year.  Let’s figure out what your options will be during your stay.

Visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and staying inside of the magic is always a memorable experience. Visiting parks like the Magic Kingdom Park is a wonderful time. Some days you will want to relax at your resort from the day before. Most folks unwind with a pool day but during your stay at Disney’s Port Orleans - French Quarter the Doubloon Lagoon pool will be undergoing routine maintenance. The entire area will be closed for maintenance and will not be available for use. During your stay, you will be welcome to swim at the Ol’ Man Island pool at Disney’s Port Orleans - Riverside

What I will recommend is visiting Scat Cat Club Cafe daily. Even if you visit twice, you won’t get any judgment from me. The beignets that they serve up at this location are something I often dream of back home in New Jersey. You can usually get these warm Mickey-shaped sugar-dusted pillows with dipping sauces. If you get lucky there will be a seasonal version to try.

I hope this information leads you to the sister resort for a swim. If you have any other questions visit us again anytime at planDisney.com and we will be happy to help.

    See ya real soon,

    Jeremy A.
