    Ilene from CO Asked

Hi we are planning to stay in the DVC at Poly over Thanksgiving. I saw the monorail is closing in Oct due to the refurbishment. I know it involves rooms & the ceremonial house. Do you know if the main pool will be effected and if Kona will stay open?

    Aloha Ilene,

How lovely to see you breezing back by planDisney with another vacation question! It would be my pleasure to help you with your questions about your upcoming stay in the tropical paradise of Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. I dream about staying here, with the incredible island theming found throughout the resort, the special touches that make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise, restaurants offering the delicious tastes of the islands, and the extraordinary views of Magic Kingdom Park. At Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, you have the South Pacific spirit of aloha, right in the heart of the magic of Walt Disney World

I am so excited to see how this beautiful resort will become even more amazing with the upcoming refurbishment and enhancements. Though the monorail transportation will not be available for this resort during the refurbishment process, the walkway to the Transportation and Ticket Center will remain open, where you can access the monorail and ferry boats to Magic Kingdom Park. Bus transportation will also be made available from the resort to EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, and Magic Kingdom Park

I am pleased to inform you that you will still be able to enjoy the use of the pools, poolside activities, Oasis Patio Rentals, Movies Under the Stars and fishing excursions during your stay. For dining options, Kona Café, Captain Cook’s, Pineapple Lanai, Barefoot Pool Bar, and Tambu Lounge are all currently available. If you didn't already know, Pineapple Lanai serves the famous DOLE Whip that is a favorite of so many Walt Disney World Guests! You can continue to check the Disney Resort Hotels: Know Before You Go page for the latest, most up to date information about your upcoming stay.

I hope that this information helps you to become even more excited about your next vacation in The Most Magical Place on Earth! If you are planning to visit the parks, be sure to make those park reservations on the new Disney Park Pass system. At planDisney, we are always here to help answer your vacation questions, so stop back by any time!
