Hey there, Mary!
Like you, I am planning my very first stay at
Disney's Contemporary Resort in just a few weeks. I am actually staying right next door at Disney's Bay Lake Tower, but the two resorts share most of their amenities.
Mary, the thing that I am most excited about during my upcoming stay is walking to Magic Kingdom. It is just a quick 10-minute walk from your room to the front gates of the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Main Street, U.S.A., is the street that leads you from the Main Street Train Station to Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom, so the only time that you will be able to walk down it is on the day that you have a theme park ticket (and
Disney Park Pass system reservation) for the Magic Kingdom.
I can tell you first-hand that walking down Main Street, U.S.A. is such a magical experience. Take some time to stop for pictures from one of the many
PhotoPass photographers lining the street then browse the shops including the iconic
Emporium.
In terms of the benefits of staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort, you can absolutely not beat the location. This resort also houses
Chef Mickey's, a character dining experience that the whole family is sure to love. The meal books up fast, so be sure to get your advanced dining reservation 60-days out.
Additionally, Disney's Contemporary Resort is located on the monorail. Book dinner at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and enjoy being whisked away on the monorail in true Disney Style.
I hope that this helped, mary. Please enjoy your stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort and come back here if we can help with any other questions!
See you real soon!
