Planning a split stay between AOA and POR for 10 total days. Which is the cheaper way to buy base tickets for 3 adults...5 tickets each stay or 1 day at one and 9 on the other? Any suggestions? Love the panel, so helpful with everything!

    Jaynee,

    That is an excellent question!

So with all answers, you want to make sure that the solution I suggest is one that works on your specific vacation package. Dining plans, and other add-ons can change this.

But your suggestion of getting a 9-day ticket, along with a 1-day ticket is the best of your two choices. That is because you are moving into a ticket that takes advantage of Disney's discounting of days as your vacation gets longer and longer. There is a wrinkle, however. While they used to sell a one-day ticket that worked at any park, they now have two versions of their one-day ticket. One is for going to the Magic Kingdom, the other, which is a bit less expensive, is for any of the other three parks. Regardless, you are talking about a difference of almost $200 with the 9+1 vs. the 5+5.

HOWEVER, there is another way! Why don't you just have one of your stays be a ticket less trip, with the other stay being tied to a 10-day ticket? So basically a 10+0, vs. a 9+1? That would save you even a bit more, somewhere in the range of almost $80 more in savings!

BOTTOM LINE: Ticket packages come with stipulations, especially when tied to ticket options, dining plan deals, and other packages. If you are working with a Disney Authorized Travel Agent (and I suggest you do!), ask them if you can do a 9 or 10-day ticket tied to your first hotel, and have your other reservation be either without ticket, or for just a one-day ticket. That should maximize your savings, and you could be pocketing several hundred dollars per person in money you could spend on dining or souvenirs!

    Have a magical vacation!
