We are planning our second trip to WDW with our then 4 year old daughter. We are looking at travel dates of either 5/30-6/5/10 or 10/10-10/16/10. We were wondering which option would be better based on crowds and weather and value.

Between the dates you mentioned, without hesitation I would choose to visit in the fall.  Autumn is actually my family's favorite time to visit Disney, and we do so every October.

The weather is still warm, but the oppressive humidity of summer is gone by then and the days are much more manageable for a northerner like me (I am originally from PA as well!)  The Magic Kingdom is always decorated so beautifully for the season, and this is even more true if you opt to attend a special event.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party will be in full swing then.  It is a special event on select nights in the Magic Kingdom, and while it does require a separate admission, it is well worth it in my opinion.  We have been to many special parties at Disney and MNSSHP is the most unique and fun, even for typically UN-Halloween people like us.  We look forward to it every year!

Another wonderful thing about visiting in the fall is the International Food & Wine Festival in Epcot.  Countries from around the world set up booths and displays where you can sample cuisine from their cultures, and there are also special events like concerts, wine tastings, and cooking demonstrations.  If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, you can use your snack credits to purchase appetizer-sized portions of food and literally eat your way around the world.  YUM!

I know it's hard to wait 5 extra months for your vacation, but I think you will enjoy all of the goodies that an October vacation has to offer!
