Planning return trip for 2019 and looking into eating at Sci Fi in Hollywood studios. Will have kids age 7,4,1. I've heard you eat in the dark? And are the videos appropriate for this age. My 7 year old is a little skirmish.

Hello, Brandi! Thanks for bringing another fabulous question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is one of my absolute favorites in all of Walt Disney World Resort! The first time I ate there was with my 8-year-old daughter, and she absolutely loved it. She’s definitely not one for super scary experiences (and isn’t really a huge fan of the dark), but she enjoyed the atmosphere, movie clips and the food, too (especially her custom milkshake).

As a party of four or five, you’ll want to ask the host or hostess for a table large enough to fit your whole family, or you could let your 7-year-old and 4-year-old share the front seat of an "automo-booth." When my husband joined my daughter and me on our second trip, she felt special getting that front seat all to herself.

While the lighting in the restaurant is dim, there are lights at your table and a beautiful starlit “sky” overhead. And don’t let titles like “The Giant Gila Monster” or “Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster” worry you: those special effects may have been cutting edge in the 1950s, but I’ll bet your little ones will find them funny. Don’t forget to take the time to check out the details like the license plates that feature initials of the Imagineers who helped create the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, too!

I hope you enjoy the show!
