Howdy, partner, from the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!
Elke, I remember being 9 years old and
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was my absolute FAVORITE attraction in all of Walt Disney World. Now, that was before Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened, so my favorite attraction as an adult might be slightly different. Nonetheless, the thrill for a child to ride without a parent is huge!
According to the Safety, Accessibility, and Guest Policies for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, “guests under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a person age 14 or older”. This, unfortunately, means that your children will be unable to ride together without an adult also riding with them. I would tell them that there are some attractions that they can ride together, such as
Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. Plus, in just ONE more year, they will be able to ride everything without parents!
When you are planning your Walt Disney World vacation, be sure to add on
Memory Maker to capture all of the smiles on 13 WDW attractions! Memory Maker also includes ALL of the photos taken within all four theme parks by the PhotoPass Photographers (you’ll know them by their khaki vests and the large camera around their neck!).
I hope you have so much fun planning your visit back to Walt Disney World! Please come back to planDisney with other questions that y’all think of!
Happy Planning,
Tracy
