Hi Kimberly,
I love big travelling parties as it makes the magic all the more fun! First, you may want to chat with the cast members with Grand Gatherings at 407-WDW-PLAN. These cast members can help with all things large parties need to have a magical vacation.
Next, while on the surface non-Disney hotels look less expensive, you will need to factor things like car rentals, parking and time into the equation when deciding which is the best option. If you are planning on returning midday for a break, you could end up spending more time in the car then the parks and the price of a ticket is the same either way.
Did you look at the
Disney Villas? These can hold up to 12 guests. With separate bedrooms and bathrooms, it makes for a great way for a family to stay together. You also have a full kitchen which can help save on meals. My family usually eats breakfast in our room so this can be a big savings. Also, when my children were little, we would bring their lunch with us so they could eat when they were hungry even when we were waiting on line for It's a Small World.
You may find a deal on free dining. This could save you a large amount of money as well and I recommend signing up for Disney's Facebook and Twitter pages so you can get the deals as soon as they release.
Wishing you a magical vacation!
Beth
