A Very Merry welcome to planDisney Melinda!
Looking at the
Walt Disney World Resort Hours & Events Calendar, it certainly does seem interesting for there to be exactly two dates out of the entire month that don't currently list any parades on the schedule: Saturday, November 9, 2024 and Sunday November 10, 2024. All of the other days either list performances of the
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at 2:00 P.M. or
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on select evenings.
At the current time, Cast Members don't have any information that can be shared with guests about any particular reasoning as to why there isn't anything currently listed. From my perspective as a fellow guest however, I similarly noticed this parade peculiarity previously and personally took the opportunity to visit
Magic Kingdom Park to find out what was going on instead, and here's what I discovered last year:
- If this is indeed what will be occurring that day, this would make sense for the change in the usual daytime entertainment, but you just might be able to glimpse a peek of some of this yourself! Two years ago, we were able to watch the Black Eyed Peas from a designated section as they ran through their performance several times; in my experience these tapings are a lot of repetition and long periods of waiting so it might not necessarily be the best use of a theme park day for every family! It was however, intriguing to be present for the taping of the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade which had also resulted in a very busy day in Magic Kingdom Park so you just might be fortunate enough to be able to witness this unique holiday happening. (Last month in Hong Kong Disneyland we were fortunate to be able to watch a taping of Mickey’s Halloween Time Street Party! which involved a lot of starting and stopping along the route as segments were filmed.)
Note that in my experience over the past two years, this cannot be guaranteed and none of this was officially announced ahead of our visit - but if you keep an eye out for signage outside the entrance for Cast Members and their guests to check in, there's a very good chance that you'll have stumbled upon a day of filming! You're absolutely welcome to keep checking the
My Disney Experience app in case there are any updates or notifications ahead of your trip but since I'll also be around during that weekend I'm definitely going to check in person to confirm why the usual parades don't appear on the calendar.
Wishing you the Happiest Holidays ahead!
