Planning a late August Magic Kingdom visit. If it’s a Halloween Party day, how feasible is it to hop to Hollywood Studios after (no party tix)? Traveling with a family of 4, including 2 kids. What should be our approach? And how do I include dinner?

    Howdy, Michael!

I’m so glad you’re back with us here at planDisney with another great planning question. I can tell your summer visit to Walt Disney World is shaping up nicely. I’m happy to help you with this particular question.

Park hopping as a family of 4 is certainly feasible. It might be a tiny bit of a hassle if either of your kids is “bring your own stroller” age due to the need to unpack any items you’re storing and fold it to ride the Disney bus, but other than that it’s a piece of cake. If you're planning to rent a stroller at the parks for bigger kids, that would make things even easier since you'd return your Magic Kingdom stroller at the park entrance/exit. With daily rentals, if you're park hopping you can show your receipt at the next park to keep the party going and rent another stroller there.

Once you leave Magic Kingdom, head to a nearby resort hotel for dinner. You’ll need to make advance dining reservations, but there are several great options nearby. One of my favorites is ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Dinner here is all you care to enjoy and absolutely delicious. This is one of my favorite restaurants on property. Within walking distance at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is Steakhouse 71 which is another great option for dinner with littles – they have a great kids’ menu.

Once you’re done with dinner, use the resort bus at either location to get to Hollywood Studios. Michael, make sure that you’ve purchased park hopper tickets. If you haven’t, you won’t be able to enter the second park without adding this option on at Guest Services. I also want to point out that you can also enjoy dinner inside Hollywood Studios. There are quite a few table service options and some quick service options as well, but if you opt for these you will want to be sure to give yourself enough time to commute. Sometimes when everyone is leaving a park at the same time there can be a bit of a wait at the bus stops. Having dinner at a resort near Magic Kingdom would help you skip that. You have options! If you do plan to eat at Hollywood Studios, I recommend checking the closing time for dining locations especially the quick service ones. In many cases they close before the park does.

Disney transportation makes getting around the resort super easy. It’s one of the many reasons I prefer staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. Any vacation where I have to drive is not a vacation for me! I hope this information was helpful, Michael. If you have any additional planning questions I’m happy to help. Come back and see us real soon.
