Hi! We are planning our honeymoon at WDW this April! However, SURPRISE!, I’ll be starting my second trimester of pregnancy. What are safe options for me at Magic Kingdom? Also we are thinking of doing the 20 minute photo shoot for baby. Suggestions

Congratulations, Brittany!  How exciting! Your life is about to change forever (in the best of ways), and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than a trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! As a mom, I'd like to chat with you about labor and baby names and the nursery, but you've got a honeymoon to plan, so let's get to your questions!

Magic Kingdom Park is a great choice! It is not as large as some of the other theme parks, and it's arranged on a hub-and-spoke system, so you can limit walking if your feet get tired or swollen. There are plenty of benches to take a break and just enjoy the atmosphere. And when those pregnancy cravings kick in? You have so many incredible choices! My suggestion is the popcorn from the Main Street Confectionery. You can add your favorite drizzle and candy toppings, and it's pretty much a dream-come-true. If you're looking for something with a little more nutrition (and I won't judge if you don't), head to Liberty Square Market, where they have a selection of fruit, as well as other snacks.

As far as attractions go, you can enjoy a majority of the experiences at Magic Kingdom. Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover are going to be great options. Anything with a height requirement or health advisory should be avoided. That would include: Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, The Barnstormer, Tomorrowland Speedway, Tron, and Space Mountain. They are posted outside of each attraction and listed on the My Disney Experience App.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times - Capture Your Moment is one of the best values on Disney property. You get a professionally trained photographer in Walt Disney World! My daughter and I did this on a recent trip, and I want to do it every visit now! You can book this Enchanting Extra beginning 60 days from your check-in day, so your window should already be open. I would consider locking that in soon. If you have Memory Maker, you can download the photos from your session at no additional cost!

As a mom of many, I'd like to share a little advice:

    • Wear comfortable shoes. This trip is not the time to wear cute sandals. Stick with sneakers. Good ones.
    • Your skin can be more sensitive during pregnancy, and the Florida sun can be unforgiving. Wear sunscreen, and reapply regularly. You might even want to consider a sun hat or parasol.
    • Bring a portable fan. You can find a variety online, but the ones they sell at Walt Disney World have a built-in water-sprayer, and they make a great souvenir!
    • Tell the characters your good news! They want to celebrate with you! Maybe even bring a special item for them to autograph.
Oh, Brittany - this is going to be such a special trip. I wish I could meet you there, buy you a Dole Whip, and tell you what a great mom you're going to be. Make magical memories with your new husband, and please know that we at planDisney are here to answer any more questions you might have as you continue your planning. Congratulations, again!
