I am planning to go on the Disney Dream in April 2017. My sons, 6 and 10 will be taking their 2nd trip on the dream. My 10 year old has asked to go to Edge, with my signed permission, can he go? He will be 11 in July.

Welcome aboard, Amy! Your Disney Dream vacation is just a few months away! Your whole family must be so excited, especially since they've already experienced one magical cruise with Captain Mickey. But, there is always new magic to experience, so you're in for a treat!

On our last sailing, my 10-year old daughter was really hoping to go to Edge for the first time too! She is mature for her age and was ready for more independence and tween fun. I'm happy to let you know that 10-year olds who are close to 11 can, with parental signed permission, join in on the tween club, Edge. In fact, when we went to check out Edge the first day of our cruise, during Open House hours, the counselors there already had a list of 10-year olds onboard. This way, if any of them were to stop by with parents who were willing to allow them to join in the club, it made the process go smoothly and quickly. Her name was on the list, so I simply chatted with the counselors, signed the permission form, and she was ready to stay and hang out with new friends. Just know that there is no parental check in/check out in Edge as there is in the Oceaneer Club and Lab, so the tweens can come and go as they please. We sent our daughter with a Wave Phone (or the kids can text through the DCL Navigator App if they have their own mobile device), so she could check in with us.

I highly recommend that your son go to the Ice Breaker activities on the first night of your sailing. You'll see those listed for Edge in your Personal Navigator or on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. During those activities the kids and counselors all meet up and have fun getting to know each other through activities and they plan events for the cruise. He won't want to miss it!
    Have a magical cruise, Amy!
