I am planning a girls weekend to Disney World without our children in October 2012. I have been to Disney with my children but I am curious what experiences would be special for us girls. Can you suggest some kid free plans that we may want to try? Thanks.

Disney is a great place for a girls weekend! And October is a really great time to visit, too.

My favorite Disney special event will be taking place during your visit, and its the perfect place to enjoy with your friends! The Food and Wine Festival in Epcot has something for everyone! We love to spend a day (or several!) feasting our way around the world. Countries set up booths with snack sized samples of their cuisine and signature drinks, which are perfect for sampling...and sharing!

Beyond the food, there are a lot of fun events associated with this festival. Think cooking demonstrations, tequila tastings, and the Eat to the Beat concert series, among others. (see the concert lineup here)

I also recommend that you visit the Boardwalk area for evening entertainment. Street performers, dance clubs, a dueling piano bar (tons of fun!) and even quiet little lounges make this a great place for grown ups.

    Have a great vacation!
