Planning first WDW trip for small children Jan 5-9 2020. Coronado Springs unavailable. Is it possible resort is totally booked? Chose week hoping parks less crowded. Now concerned. Special event that week? Is another week in Jan or Feb less busy?

    Hi Jean,
Thanks for joining us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!

How exciting to be planning a first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort with some little ones! Jean, you're having a rough time finding accommodations because the latter part of the week of your planned visit is runDisney's Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (January 8-12, 2020).  Runners from across the country come to the Walt Disney World Resort to have fun running through the theme parks, earning some incredibly gorgeous medals along the way.  Since you mentioned the January-February time frame, you should know that there is another race weekend planned for February 20-23, 2020, Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend.  It is not uncommon for resorts to sell out for the weekend you have selected, so it is highly likely that Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is truly unavailable, particularly since they have added so many amenities in the last year with the opening of the Gran Destino Tower.

If your schedule is flexible, you may want to choose another weekend for your visit.  Alternately, maybe push your plans back a few days and check in a little earlier.

Please come back and visit us again with any additional vacation planning questions. I hope your first-timers have a magical visit!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy S.
