Hi. We're planning our first WDW trip for Sept 09 with 2 kids (9 and 12). If we reserve a package vacation in Jan 09 and later in the year the rates drop, will we get the new lower rates? Would it be best to wait until the rates drop to book our trip?

It is best to reserve your vacation as soon as you can (so you are guaranteed your room), and if/when any special offers are announced, you should call WDW (or your travel agent) as soon as possible to see if they can get you the better rate.

Unfortunately if you book directly with Disney, you have to do the research yourself, and ask them to try to get you the better rates when they are released.  They won't do it automatically, and they won't reach out to you and tell you that better rates have been released.

This is a one of the best reasons to use an experienced WDW travel agency to book your vacation, as they will always be on the lookout for better rates, and will work hard for you to get you these better rates.  And the best part is...it doesn't cost you a dime extra to use a WDW travel agent (Disney pays them a commission for their work, but you pay the same as if you booked direct with Disney).

Bonus tip: The only WDW travel agency that I have worked with is www.themagicforless.com.  I found them to be very experienced and helpful.  Other WDW travel agencies that I have heard good things about include www.mousefantravel.com, www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com, and www.dreamcometruevacations.com.
