We are planning our first trip to WDW with two boys, ages 4 and 9, and any tips from those experts would be greatly appreciated! What MUST we see/do, and how do we manage it all in 6 days/ 7 nights?

    Hi Amanda,

Welcome to the Walt Disney World Resorts! I hope you have a magical time on vacation with your pirates!

First, if you are telling your pirates you are going, order the Walt Disney World Planning video and sit down with them to figure out what they must do. I completely understand if you want to keep it a surprise because they could be asking everyday is today the day! However, I know my children like to be a part of the planning so I just want to mention it.

First, figure out if you want to go to all the parks or just concentrate on one or two. I think your boys will love them all but you may want to concentrate on a few. Second, I would opt for you to get the Magic Your Way base ticket without the Park Hopper option. You are on your first trip so just enjoy it. Without adding to your ticket price, you may be able to upgrade a resort level. Third, make Advance Dining Reservations for dinner. This helps refuel your body and gets you to gather your memories for the day. Plus if it is a character meal, you save from waiting on line to see a favorite character.

Finally, this is the biggest tip of them all-you do not have to do everything! You heard it from me. I choose not to do everything on vacation because it leaves something to come back to to discover. Go to the pool and swim. Tour another resort while you are having dinner their or ride the monorail just to ride the monorail. Vacations is about making memories!

    Wishing you magical memories!
